Psychomanteum raise the inferno and the power on their prog metal masterpiece "For All Time"
From the very first listen, For All Time immediately brought to mind the early days of Testament, with hints of Metallica woven into the mix. But make no mistake: this is a band with an identity all of its own. The riffs are huge, the breakdowns hit hard, and the songwriting is seriously impressive.
The title track, “For All Time,” is an absolute assault on the senses. From the opening vocals right through to that amazing chorus, it delivers a thrill from start to finish. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I heard a band hit this hard while sounding this fresh.
This isn’t just an EP it’s an experience.
And perhaps the question at the heart of it all is: “Where does your soul go when you die?”
By track two, “Gossamer Bead,” we’re taken further into a continuation of the band’s proto-prog-metal sound, but again, it never feels dated or derivative. It sounds fresh, exciting and completely alive.
Then “Blood Atonement” comes along and rips your head clean off. A Testament-esque, groove-laden riff-fest, this is one of my favourite tracks on For All Time and quite possibly my favourite. The riffs are relentless, but there’s real musicianship and thought behind every note.
And that’s what becomes so clear throughout this EP: Psychomanteum have the skill and talent to back up the riffage. The next-level songwriting gives subtle nods to bands such as Dream Theater and Metallica, while still remaining unmistakably Psychomanteum.
“The Fire Rises” takes the listener into In Flames-esque territory, adding yet another dimension to an already varied release.
Then we reach “Corpse Demon” which was played on Episode 4 of the podcast and things get even darker. Its doom-esque intro feels almost like a fever dream before the track suddenly punches you straight in the face with a Gojira-like pounding assault, ‘Sky burial take me home’ repeats as this 9 minute epic closes out.
“Sing for me baby” begins EP closer and is reminiscent of a epitaph as you realise the journey is coming to end painfully too soon, you can imaging this song pulsing at the end of a Psychomanteum set while the heat rises from the crowd.
Part groove machine, part prog metal, but never lacking in originality, For All Time takes the listener on a journey from beginning to end. It’s aggressive, adventurous, brilliantly played and, most importantly, genuinely exciting.

Florida's heavy rock merchants Decibel Dogs get unbroken on their new single
Decibel Dogs – “Unbroken”
Kicking off with a dirty, heavy riff, Decibel Dogs’ new single “Unbroken” wastes absolutely no time in letting you know what kind of ride you’re in for.
This is a track that wears its influences proudly, paying homage to all things sleazy, bluesy and hard rock, while also tipping its hat towards the grittier side of grunge.
There’s a real sense of swagger running through the track, with riffs that feel raw and unapologetic, backed by a groove that gives the song plenty of attitude. You can hear echoes of Warrior Soul and Stone Temple Pilots, while a healthy dose of 80s rock atmosphere adds another layer to the sound. It’s a combination that could easily have become predictable, but Decibel Dogs manage to bring these influences together in a way that feels energetic and fresh.
“Unbroken” has that classic rock ’n’ roll spirit running through its veins. The bluesy elements give the track plenty of grit, while the heavier moments add some serious punch. There’s also a slightly rough-around-the-edges quality to the production that works in its favour, helping capture that sweaty, live-band energy rather than making everything sound overly polished.
Decibel Dogs have delivered a track that sits comfortably between sleaze rock, blues-infused hard rock and grunge, while still managing to carve out its own identity. “Unbroken” is dirty, riff-heavy and packed with attitude, exactly the kind of rock ’n’ roll that deserves to be turned up to eleven.

Manchester’s Chewed Out arrive swinging on their new single 'Mud, Filth and Shit', opening with the stark declaration: “I am a creature.” It’s not a gentle introduction or a slow burn into atmosphere from the very first riff the track launches itself straight at your throat, grabbing you by the collar and pinning you to the nearest wall with absolute intent. There’s no scene-setting, no indulgence, no wasted seconds. Just pure, violent momentum.
What follows is a savage banquet of riffs and noise, balancing chaos with precision in a way that feels both calculated and completely feral. The DNA of Gallows is unmistakable in the track’s bruising weight and venomous energy, while the jagged urgency and confrontational edge of Refused runs through its veins. Imagine those two bands locked in a back-alley fight and you’re somewhere close to the intensity Chewed Out are conjuring here.
But this isn’t imitation it’s escalation. The guitars grind and slash with metallic force, the rhythm section sounds like collapsing concrete, and the vocals spit every line with raw desperation and fury. There’s a constant sense that the song could spiral completely out of control at any moment, yet the band keep it locked tight, weaponising that tension into something genuinely thrilling.
Part metal, part post-hardcore, and entirely uncompromising, the single refuses to offer comfort or restraint. It’s unrelenting from start to finish, a vicious burst of catharsis that feels built for sweat-soaked rooms, swinging bodies, and blown speakers. In a landscape where heavy music can sometimes feel overly polished or predictable,
Chewed Out sound dangerous and that’s exactly what makes this release so magnificent.
